Nominations now open for the 2027 One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards!
Nominations have opened for the 2027 One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards, the fourth year that the awards have been held.
The awards, which are run by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and fully funded through sponsorship, recognise and honour those exceptional individuals, organisations and businesses that go above and beyond to support and make a difference to their local community.
The awards are an opportunity for residents to celebrate the unsung heroes who go above and beyond to make the borough a better place. Whether they are the quiet heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes or the stars of their local neighbourhood, these awards will acknowledge their outstanding contributions.
Residents can nominate an individual, organisation or business for a Community Award through the One Welwyn Hatfield website. There are nine categories to choose from:
- Mayor’s Special Recognition Award
- Young Cultural Award
- Young Sportsperson Award
- Community Sports Club Award
- Young Impact Award
- Healthy Communities Award
- Business Impact Award
- Climate Impact Award
- Volunteer Excellence Award
To make a nomination, submit a summary of at least 200 words explaining why your chosen individual, organisation or business deserves an award. Nominations must be received by 18 December.
Nominees are shortlisted by a panel of judges from across the local community, with the winners announced at a dazzling evening of celebration, entertainment and glamour at Campus West in Welwyn Garden City in March 2027.
Councillor Max Holloway, Executive Member for Community and Leisure said:
“For the last four years, the One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards have shone a light on the people, organisations and businesses that make such a positive difference to our local communities. There are so many inspiring examples of people across Welwyn Hatfield that do so much to help others, and these awards give us an opportunity to recognise, celebrate and thank them for all that they do I would encourage everyone to get nominating and let’s celebrate those unsung heroes in our borough!”
