A compelling documentary film exploring the effects of the climate and nature crisis on communities across the UK is coming to Campus West.

The People’s Emergency Briefing examines the latest evidence on how climate and nature breakdown is affecting everyday life and sets out how communities can respond with credible, science-based solutions.

Presented by renowned broadcaster and environmental campaigner Chris Packham, the 50-minute documentary features a range of experts and covers important topics including extreme heat, food prices, cost of living, local flooding and nature loss.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, in partnership with community interest company Culturewood, is bringing a public screening of the film to screen 2, Campus West on Wednesday 11 November, during a special event running from 6:15pm to 8:30pm. Attendance is free of charge, but tickets must be booked via the Campus West website.

The evening will include:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Film screening
  • Short presentation
  • Reflections and facilitated discussion.

After the event, attendees will be able to continue the conversation over tea, coffee, and biscuits in the bar area.

Councillor Sandreni Bonfante, Deputy Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and Executive Member for Climate Change, said:

“I’m delighted to welcome the People’s Emergency Briefing to Campus West. This compelling documentary sets out the stark challenges we face from the climate and nature crisis and examines how people can come together to protect our precious environment.

“As a council, we are committed to tackling climate change and helping our residents live more sustainably. Whether you are already involved in climate action or simply interested in learning more, I would strongly encourage you to attend what promises to be an informative and thought-provoking evening.”

Screenings will also be available at other locations in Welwyn Hatfield, including The University of Hertfordshire.
