Joint statement from the Leader and Deputy Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council on the announcement of new Mayoral Strategic Authority for Hertfordshire

We were pleased that the Government announced a new Mayoral Strategic Authority for Hertfordshire in yesterday’s budget.

This decision is good news for local residents and businesses across Welwyn Hatfield and will enable us to build on the progress that has been made with Council priorities, whether that is the provision of more affordable housing, growing our local economy or the regeneration of our town centres.

We are lucky in Welwyn Hatfield to have many major businesses based in our borough, including the headquarters of Tesco, as well as being home to the University of Hertfordshire and its strong ties with industry.  We will continue to work with key local partners to ensure that Welwyn Hatfield continues to be a wonderful place to live, work and visit.
