Good causes of all shapes and sizes are being encouraged to attend the virtual launch event of One Welwyn Hatfield Lottery for their chance to get a slice of the ticket proceeds.

A generous 60% of the ticket proceeds from One Welwyn Hatfield Lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council wants as many community organisations as possible to join the lottery and the virtual event will provide information on how to become an official Good Cause including the eligibility criteria and the benefits of becoming a Good Cause.

Cllr Max Holloway, Executive Member for Community and Leisure, said:

"The money raised by One Welwyn Hatfield Lottery is going to make a lot of difference to good causes across the borough. We'd encourage all charities and community groups to join the Good Cause Launch Event and start fundraising with our lottery. It’s easy and free!”

Following the event, tickets for the community lottery will go on sale via the website on Monday 19 September. Leading lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to run the lottery, having successfully launched similar lotteries throughout the UK.
