Description
Projects within the WHCVS:
Community Car Scheme - run with volunteer drivers who are willing to transport anyone unable to use public transport due to age, disability or special needs. They type of journey varies from a hospital appointment to a shopping trip. Medical appointments are a priority. Our service covers visits to specialist hospitals in the area as well as to the London hospitals such as Moorfields Eye Hospital, the Royal Free and also Mount Vernon. We also offer a Prescription Collection Service and a weekly Shopping Service.
Let's Chat Befriending Scheme - our volunteers offer a weekly call to those who are perhaps feeling lonely or isolated - where a friendly chat can make all the difference.
Blooming Marvellous Gardening - a gardening service offered to those who are unable to maintain their gardens perhaps due a mobility issue. All our volunteers gardeners love to garden and have great knowledge and experience.
Love Welwyn Hatfield - a community based clean-up campaign to help improve an area with regular litter-picking sessions organised each month.
Staying Connected - digital inclusion project. Our volunteer Digital Champions help out anyone (often the elderly) who might be struggling to use a smartphone/tablet or laptop with fundamental task such as setting a password, sending an email and using the internet.
Volunteer Centre - assisting WHCVS members with volunteer recruitment and retention.
