Last month, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council proudly celebrated Great Big Green Week, the UK’s biggest campaign for community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
This year’s theme was ‘Let’s Swap Together for Good’, focusing on sharing items, skills, and ideas to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and build a greener, fairer future.
Throughout the week, residents joined us for a fantastic line-up of events and activities, including:
- Dr Bike repair shop and police bike marking
- River dipping sessions with Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust and GLL
- Walk and Talk through Tewin’s Market Gardens
- ‘Creating a Space for Nature’ talks and a seed swap
- Yoga on the green in collaboration with This Girl Can
- Litter picking and a sustainability stall at a community catch-up event
- A drop-in seed planting workshop and clothes swap
Thank you to everyone who took part! Having the events so well attended, and the enthusiasm for more talks, more swaps, and all things sustainable shows that together, we’re taking real action to protect our planet!
We’re especially grateful partners during the week and our council staff for all their collaboration and support in making the week such a success.
