Hatfield Market Place has reopened following an extensive redevelopment project to create a vibrant and welcoming destination for families, visitors and the local community.

The project was delivered as part of the Hatfield 2030+ programme, a long-term vision to revitalise the town and support local businesses by increasing footfall and encouraging visitors to stay longer.

What has changed?

The newly transformed area features:

  • An accessible play area with inclusive equipment including a trampoline, nest swing, roundabout and play tower – allowing children of all abilities to play side by side.
  • High-quality new landscaping, with a single-level layout and clear sightlines, designed to improve visibility across the space and help reduce antisocial behaviour.
  • A 10% net gain in biodiversity through the addition of new green spaces.
  • New seating, enhanced lighting and safer pedestrian access, creating a brighter, more enjoyable environment for residents and visitors.

Funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, this project marks a key milestone in the wider regeneration of Hatfield town centre, helping to support thriving, connected communities.
