The big Christmas lights switch-on is coming in Hatfield!

Welwyn Hatfield’s own rising star Immi Davis, the 11 year-old former Britain’s Got Talent contestant, will be performing the headline slot on the big stage, before switching on the lights in White Lion Square at 5.30pm.

But there’s a whole afternoon of entertainment first! From midday, the big stage will host other talented local acts offering something for everyone, including the Bring The Party Band and the Oompah Brass Trio, with top DJs on the decs between acts.

Elsewhere, in Market Place, Santa and his elves will be welcoming little ones into their grotto – but make sure you see him before he flies back to the North Pole at 5pm!

There will also be roaming street entertainers, keeping up the festive fun for children and adults alike, stalls with Christmas-themed gifts and activities, plus craft workshops. The giant snow globe makes a welcome return, creating the perfect setting for a festive photo to share with friends and family.

Cllr Paul Zukowskyj, Leader of the Council, said: “We’re looking forward to making this year’s switch-on event in Hatfield a winter wonderland of festive fun!

We are working with residents, businesses, and local groups to ensure the event is a real celebration of the diversity of Hatfield, and its strong sense of community. It’s something that the town is rightly proud about, and something that we think should be celebrated – but please do check the times of the many activities happening on the day, so that you don’t miss out – especially seeing Santa!

The Yuletide merriment continues throughout December! Stock up on last minute festive gifts with the Christmas Market in White Lion Square, on every day of the week leading up to Christmas (Monday 18 – Saturday 23 December).

Along the way look out for best shop window and best dressed market stalls for our Christmassy competition!
