Great Big Green Week is returning – get involved!

Great Big Green Week

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is encouraging local groups to take part in Great Big Green Week, the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.

The week, which will run from 7 to 15 June, is dedicated to encouraging local groups to come together and host events aimed at improving sustainability and conserving the environment.

This year’s theme, ‘Let’s swap together for good’, is about exchanging items, skills and more to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and create a safer, greener, fairer future.

Sports clubs, schools, charities, not-for-profits, local businesses and other community organisations in Welwyn Hatfield can register their events by completing the online form at one.welhat.gov.uk/great-big-green-week

All the activities will be published on the council’s events calendar at: one.welhat.gov.uk/events

The council is taking part in Great Big Green Week for the second year in a row because it has set ambitious environmental targets, including to achieve net zero carbon emissions as an organisation by 2030, and aims to encourage others to take positive action on climate change.

This year’s week-long campaign promises to be even bigger and better than last year, with a range of great activities already planned including pond dipping, clothes swaps, and evening talks about ‘creating a space for nature’.
