Nominate a local hero for a One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is proud to announce the launch of the One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards. These awards will recognise and honour the exceptional individuals, organisations and businesses that have made a difference to, and had a significant impact on, the local community.
The One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards are an opportunity for residents to celebrate the unsung heroes who go above and beyond to make the borough a better place. Whether they are the quiet heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes or the stars of their local neighbourhood, these awards will acknowledge their outstanding contributions.
The awards will be presented in a number of categories, each highlighting a different aspect of community service. Among the categories are the Mayors Civic Award, which will recognise an individual who has demonstrated long-standing service to their community over many years, and the Welwyn Hatfield for All Award, celebrating outstanding cross-community work by an organisation or group. Outstanding local businesses, cultural organisations, young sportspeople and health and wellbeing champions will also be among those celebrated. The winners will be announced by the Mayor, Cllr Pankit Shah, at a special awards ceremony held at Campus West on Wednesday 28 February 2024.
Cllr Paul Zukowskyj, Leader of the Council, said: “We’re delighted to launch the One Welwyn Hatfield Community Awards, which will showcase the amazing achievements of our local heroes. These awards are a testament to the strength and resilience of our community.”
Cllr Max Holloway, Executive Member Community and Leisure, said: “I know there’s so much hard work going on behind the scenes in our borough which is truly inspiring and these awards give us a brilliant opportunity to say thank you. I can’t wait to learn more about the outstanding volunteers, professionals and businesses that are nominated!”
Nominations are open to Friday 15 December 2023.
