Internal Governance
The Climate Officers Group (COG) and the Climate Biodiversity Cabinet Panel (CBCP) are two key entities driving climate action within the Council:
Climate Officers Group (COG)
The aim of this group is to deliver the Council’s pledge to be net zero as an organisation by 2030 and as a borough by 2050.
The COG meets every two months to discuss actions and review project progress. It has been created with a refreshed list of members, made up of senior representatives of the Council in all relevant service areas, with a renewed sense of urgency to deliver actions within the Climate Action Plan.
Climate Biodiversity Cabinet Panel (CBCP) meeting minutes
The CBCP meets bi-monthly to advance the council’s climate and environment goals. The panel reviews and votes on recommendations in relation to the adoption of such climate change and biodiversity strategies, policies, and plans.
In each session, the Panel receives an update report on internal actions and initiatives, as well as considerations of the work of other Hertfordshire-wide Climate Change Groups such as Hertfordshire Climate Change and Sustainability Partnership (HCCSP).
The Panel also has the authority to approve the draw down money from the climate reserve fund.
